In Case You Did'nt Know

Hey Folks! Well I hope that everyone enjoyed the first episode....well I wouldnt really call that an episode, more like a prequil of things to come.
I'm posting this because I realize not everyone knows how to subscribe to a podcast. Some people dont even know what a podcast is. Now there is no shame in this. It wasnt too long ago that I didnt know either, but now Im a [very rookie] podcaster.

By Wikipedia, this is the definition of Podcast: "A podcast is a series of digital-media files, which are distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and computers. The term podcast, like broadcast, can refer either to the series of content itself or to the method by which it is syndicated; the latter is also called podcasting. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster."

Now to subscribe to a podcast is quite simple. All you need is a podcatcher. What is a podcatcher? You may have a podcathcer in your computer and dont even know it. The most popular one being Apple iTunes. My podcatcher of preference is Microsoft's Zune Marketplace. Both are free of charge, just go to http://www.apple.com/ or http://www.zune.net/ for the download. There are tons of others out there, but the best thing about these two is that you get a really good music and video store with both. Now that you have your podcatcher, you need to subscribe to the syndication feed (or RSS). Lets use the Zune Marketplace for example. If you look in the upper right hand side of this blog, you will see this orange box that looks like it has a wi-fi signal in it. This is called a chicklet. Why? I have no clue. Right click here, choose Save Target in th options. Then open the ZMP (refers to the Zune Marketplace). While in your collections, click the Podcast option in the top right of your screen. After this opens, if you are not already suscribed to any podcasts you will have an option on your screen to add a favorite podcast. Click this and a box will appear that says enter the URL of the feed. In the text box, right click and choose paste in the options. You should see what appears to be a long internet address. Click OK, and you're subcribed! Easy enough right? Well you can do it. I've already rambled longer than I wanted, so I wont go over the iTunes options here, but I will talk more about this , with the iTunes info, in the weekly audio podcast, so be sure to listen in!

Thats all for now....if you have any questions please feel free to post it here.

See ya next time!
